FAQ
-
What is a doula, and what do they do?
A doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, and informational support to individuals and families during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. A doula does not perform medical tasks but helps you navigate the birth process, offering comfort techniques, helping with decision-making, and providing continuous support.
-
What’s the difference between a doula and a midwife or doctor?
A doula complements the care provided by midwives and doctors but does not replace them. While midwives and doctors manage the medical aspects of labor and birth, a doula offers emotional and physical support, helps you communicate with your medical team, and provides comfort measures during labor.
-
What are your qualifications as a doula?
I have completed the birth and postpartum doula training with DONA International with training in childbirth education, lactation support, and holistic wellness practices.
-
When should I hire a doula?
It’s best to hire a doula early in your pregnancy so we can establish a strong working relationship, but you can hire one at any point during your pregnancy or even after birth. The sooner you book, the more time we’ll have to prepare together.
-
What if my birth plan changes or doesn’t go as expected?
As a doula, my role is to support you no matter how your birth unfolds. I will help you navigate any changes, provide emotional reassurance, and assist in adjusting to new plans or situations. The most important thing is your well-being and comfort, and I’ll be there to support you every step of the way.
-
Can my partner still be involved in the birth process if we hire a doula?
Absolutely! My role as a doula is to support both you and your partner. I help guide your partner on how to best assist and be involved in the labor process, ensuring that they feel confident and comfortable while being actively engaged in your birth experience.

What happens if you’re unavailable when I go into labor?
I work closely with a team of experienced backup doulas who will step in if I am unavailable during your labor for any reason. Rest assured that you’ll still receive high-quality support from a trusted professional.
